about

I had a bit of a bug up my ass regarding hair metal. And, the joke is, that near the end of the song, when I say "and ten years from now, no one's gonna remember Jon Bon Jovi, any more than they'll remember Night Ranger, or Aldo Nova, or Michael Bolton," I went one for four. (If you don't know, back then, Michael Bolton was hair metal; look up "Fool's Game" on youtube.) My parody-of-a-heavy-metal-solo still makes me laugh. The lyric "you've got such a huge overwhelming need" is a reference to Richard Burton's ranting about his need, including his "huge overwhelming need," in the psychotic 1968 sex farce "Candy."
